Houston Area Women’s Center’s new One Safe Place campus provides the organization’s trauma-informed wrap-around services to the city’s most vulnerable members. The campus is a turning point for the organization as it redefines its public image to the city, while maintaining safety and security for its clients as a top priority. The Emergency Supportive Housing building includes 135 apartments along with counseling rooms, a commercial kitchen and dining area providing residents with 3 meals a day, childcare rooms for preschool children and onsite HISD classrooms for school-age children, a survivor empowerment hub, and playgrounds for different age groups.
