Harmony House is a congregate living facility for the homeless in Houston that provides 128 new bunks offering much needed affordable shelter. The dormitory portions of the building are flexible. These spaces can be organized to accommodate an all bunk configuration, respite beds for residents recovering from a hospital stay, or separate, safe and secure facilities for homeless women, or a combination of the three. The women’s specific bunk and respite program will be the first of its kind in the City of Houston. In addition to a place to sleep, Harmony house provides common cooking, living, and dining facilities. These common areas help to provide a sense of community and relieve the stress of living on the street. The new building also houses Harmony House Inc’s, new administration offices, social service offices, and communal meeting space. Harmony House in partnership with Harris County Health System will provide about 1000 square feet of medical office space that is staffed daily by medical professionals. This clinic serves both residents and the surrounding community through weekly clinic events, education events, and community outreach programs.
This project is scheduled to open in early 2020.
